OK this is a story I wrote for English class and I thought I would share it with you.... if you don't get..well sorry?
She is driving
to get away. She will disappear one day with only God and the road as her
guides. She will willingly share the company of her adored acoustic
guitar and a sturdy blue cooler. The windows will be frigid and frosty,
since the night will have been cold. Her worn leather seats will be ready for
the trip that’s coming. All is silent in the early morning. She is just waiting to get away.
Inside her
rusty red truck, were all is prepared she will look up and see her
favorite picture of Todd her dog smiling back at her. She knows he will miss
her and she him, but the trip won’t last forever. It never does. She will be
comforted to know that she is not alone. God is there. Sitting beside her. He
always is. With this in mind she will click her seatbelt and turn the key. The
sound of the engine starting will bring a smile to her face. She is on the
road. Driving to get away.
She will turn
the radio on as her trip lengthens. This is her biggest enjoyment on her
trips. She will be dance while she
sings her heart out, just like they do in the movies. Songs will come on which
she knows and loves and others which she has never heard, yet she will sing
anyways. Singing to get away.
As she sings she will role the windows down. They
will whine, as they have not yet recovered from the chilly morning. Once the
windows are down her hair will begin to blow. Enjoying the sunshine she’ll take
off her sweatshirt. When she does you will be able to see her blue baseball
T-shirt. Her faded jeans will have worn holes in the knees and the ends will be
fraying under her favorite shoes. Confidently she will drive down the winding
roads as if she’s never been there before. Her trip is coming to an end. She is
getting away.
In the, end
after all is seen and done, and the cooler empty, she will gradually step out
of the truck and walk into reality.
Even if the trip has ended, she keeps it going. Can you find the roads on a map? No, it’s there in her head. There, the
cooler is filled, her guitar tuned and she is on the road still. The wind is
blowing and she is still singing. I
drove to get away.
